COVID-19: United players set to donate 30% of wages to NHS

Manchester United players are set to donate 30% of wages to NHS and become first Prem club to slash salaries in coronavirus fight, The Sun reports.

The United Kingdom has been battling the deadly virus with a total of 33,718 coronavirus cases, 2,921 deaths and 135 recoveries.

Leading the pack is the club captain, Harry Maguire, who earns £190,000 a week, following a discussion with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who initiated the idea.

The Sun also reported that Harry has successfully convinced the entire first-team squad to donate "a third of their pay for one month - so long as it goes straight to local hospitals."

An official announcement is expected in the coming hours, the report added.

Every player giving up 30 per cent of their wages would create a predicted figure of £8MILLION for the NHS in its time of need.
