British Publication, Givemeaports in its latest publication has revealed why Everton sold Alex Iwobi.

The Super Eagles star joined Fulham on transfer deadline day for a reported fee of €22m.

The former Arsenal man signed a five-year deal with the London-based side.

As per reports, the Toffees sacrificed the Super Eagles star due to the club's poor financial situation.

“With Everton’s financial situation drastically worsening year on year, something has to change at the top at Goodison Park.

“The Merseyside club’s difficulties from a money perspective were amplified this summer, with just £2.6m spent on new players in terms of upfront payments, but £45m worth of assets sold, including key man Alex Iwobi on deadline day.”

Iwobi spent four seasons at Goodison Park. He made 123 appearances for the Merseyside club scoring six goals.

He was one time Everton player of the season.
