Ademola Lookman has shared details of the tactical instructions he received from Diego Simeone before coming on as a substitute for Atlético Madrid against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League.

The 28-year-old came off the bench to apply the finishing touch as the La Liga side secured a 2-0 victory over the Red Devils at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Tuesday evening.

The former African Footballer of the Year needed just seven minutes to make his impact felt after replacing Álex Baena in the 71st minute.

Lookman was asked what instructions the manager gave him before his introduction, and he responded:

“Just bring the energy, try to help the team, defensively, of course, and offensively when I get the chance to do so. Yeah, bring the energy,” Lookman told Peter Schiechel in an interview with CBS Sports Golazo.

It was Lookman’s first goal in six matches for the Rojiblancos this season.
