Former Queen park Rangers forward Bright Osayi-Samuel is delighted to get a chance to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Fenerbahce forward in a chat with NFF TV explained the decision to represent Nigeria over England.

“I’m delighted to be here, I’ve always said I would like to play for my country and I’m happy to get the opportunity to show what I’m all about,” he said on NFF TV.

“I just want to play to my best, show what I’m capable of and obviously bring my qualities into the team and make the team stronger.

Osayi-Samuel is currently in the Super Eagles camp for Thursday’s international friendly game with Portugal in Lisbon.

The 24-year-old however revealed how Jose Peseiro convinced him to accept Nigeria.

“My invitation to the Super Eagles, I knew about it like a month or two months ago, the coach (Jose Peseiro) called my coach because they knew each other and said he wants to know if I’m interested to play for Nigeria.

“And by the time he asked me I already knew my answer, I’m Nigerian and I’m proud to be a Nigerian when the opportunity came to play for the country I’m on it.

“My coach came to ask me if I wanted to play and I said, of course, I wanted to play and from there I got called by the Team Manager just to confirm if I wanted to play and I said yes.

The former Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers have featured in 11 matches for Fenerbahce this season.

He helped the club to the top of the league table going into the World Cup break.
