Nigerian defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and two teammates are reportedly set to attend a disciplinary hearing convened by the Turkish Football Federation.

This is after their physical confrontation with Trabzonspor fans in a heated Turkish Super Lig derby on March 17. Chaos ensued after the visiting team won the game.

Fenerbahce were cruising in the game after taking a 2-0 lead in the first half. However, they were pegged back by a resilient Trabzonspor side, who levelled matters in the 78th minute.

Former Chelsea striker, Michy Batshuayi, then scored the winner for the Yellow Canaries, with the home supporters furious. Chaos ensued shortly after when local fans invaded the pitch.

In the midst of the chaos, Osayi-Samuel reportedly engaged in a physical altercation with one of the fans. Dutch defender, Jayden Oosterwolde, was also accused of kicking the same fan, as reported by SuperSport.

Another player and two club staff members will also be subject to disciplinary proceedings for their involvement in the altercation, as stated by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). A Trabzonspor assistant coach is also slated to appear before the disciplinary board.

The 26-year-old Nigerian defender recently broke his silence about his altercation at the Papara Park in Trabzon, stating outright that his actions were in self-defence.

"If someone comes at you with a knife in his hand, how can this not be self-defence? They came to the field from the stands. I only had to defend my team and my friends there. Many of my teammates were coming into the locker room with cuts and bruises," Osayi-Samuel said, as reported by Complete Sports.

The chaotic scenes at the stadium eventually saw Fenerbahce players ushered into the tunnel by a team of security personnel.
