Brentford tables €12m for Osayi-Samuel

Premier League club, Brentford, have stepped up their interest to sign Nigerian defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel from Turkey Super Lig giants, Fenerbahçe, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

As per Turkish news outlet, 90min Türkiye, Brentford are offering €12m for the right back and are looking to finalise the deal by summer.

he Nigerian player sparked fresh interest from the Bees following his performance for Nigeria in the 2023 AFCON qualifier double-header against Guinea-Bissau, putting up a decent display in the first leg and winning the penalty that won the second leg for the Super Eagles.

The 25-year-old right-back had been on Brentford’s radar since 2022 and they are keen on bringing the player back to the Premier League while his contract at Fenerbahce runs till June 2025.

The Nigerian has featured 30 times in all competitions this season for Fenerbahçe, eighteen of which he started.

Osayi-Samuel is no stranger to English football. He started his professional career with Blackpool, where he played 79 games scoring 5 goals and registering 6 assists.

In 2017, he moved from Blackpool to Queens Park Rangers for whom he made 115 appearances, registering 13 goals and 13 assists.

Osayi-Samuel still has a chance of winning the Turkey Super Lig with Fenerbahçe, as they are four points behind Galatasaray with a game in hand.

Brentford, who sit 8th in the Premier League table at the moment and have a chance to finish in one of the continental places, are preparing a move for the Nigerian to bolster their ranks ahead of next season.
