FIFA has banned Super Falcons, Abiodun Deborah for three matches following her red card against Canada in the opening game of the FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The review extended her one-match ban to three.

She will miss the game against Ireland and the subsequent round of 16 clash should Nigeria advance to the next round.

Earlier, the head coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Randy Waldrum lamented over the red card slammed on Deborah Abiodun on Friday, July 21.

The Nigerian young midfielder received a red card in the added time during the Super Falcons World Cup opener against Canada on Friday morning, which is the first red card of the 2023 edition of the tournament.

Deborah Abiodun was shown the red card after the VAR review confirmed that the 19-year-old Rivers Angels midfielder struck Canada’s Lawrence’s shin with her studs.
