Barcelona has agreed to pay 100 percent of Joao Felix’s wages as the Catalan club pushes to sign the disgruntled Portuguese star from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid this summer.

The Portuguese attacking midfielder has previously stated that he wishes to leave Atletico Madrid before the transfer season shuts, and the club does not appear to be interested in keeping him.

According to Football Espana, both Atletico Madrid and Joao Felix want the move to happen, and the Catalan giants, battling financial difficulties, have agreed to pay Felix’s wages in full as they try to sign him on loan.

The reigning La Liga champions are also pushing to have a potential purchase option included in the deal for Felix, as manager Xavi Hernandes has finally given his backing for the club to sign the attacking midfielder.

Barcelona hopes to bring in Felix in time following the injury suffered by Spanish midfielder Pedri, who is set to miss eight weeks of action.
