Awoniyi progressing well from injury – Cooper confirms

Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi recovery from injury is progressive according to Nottingham Forest manager, Steve Cooper.

Awoniyi aggravated a groin injury when he played for the Super Eagles last month.

Cooper said the 26-year-old is progressing well as he is not expected to return to action after going under the knife.

“Taiwo’s injury is the obvious long-term one,” Cooper was quoted by the Nottingham Post.

“He is going well but he is a long, long way from being back involved in games.

“But his programme is going well. He had a positive appointment this week. He doesn’t enjoy being injured but he is staying positive in his mentality.”

Awoniyi has made 10 league appearances for Forest this season with four goals to his name.
