Awoniyi included in Alan Shearer's Premier League Team of the Week

Nottingham Forest star Taiwo Awoniyi has made Alan Shearer's Premier League Team of the Week.

The Reds pulled off a 2-2 draw against Chelsea over the weekend as they move a step closer to surviving in the Premier League.

Speaking after the time, Shearer said: “Hitting form at precisely the right moment. Chelsea couldn’t handle him as he scored two headers. He could be what keeps Forest up."

"There is absolutely more to come from Awoniyi and for his own form, perhaps this season is going to end too quickly."

"The Reds need another three points to be absolutely sure of survival, whilst a point might just be enough too.

Forest face Arsenal this weekend knowing that a win could actually secure their Premier League status for another season."

Awoniyi has come into some form at the right time. He’s scored four times in the last two appearances and things are on the up.

The 25-year-old has taken some time to settle at Forest and a groin injury suffered in January came at just the wrong time for the player.

The Reds signed Awoniyi from Union Berlin for a fee of £17.5 million and the first half of the campaign proved a bit of a struggle in terms of goals.
