Nigerian and Union Berlin striker is gradually nearing full fitness his manager has said.

The striker has missed his club's seven games after sustaining an injury in February.

Coach Urs Fischer said his compatriot, Anthony Ujah is also battling an injury with both strikers set to miss the tie against Wolfsburg on Wednesday.

“Ujah, Awoniyi, Dajaku, Becker, Teuchert. Prömel, Hübner, Busk had muscle issues. Everyone else is available,” Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer told a news conference on Thursday.

“Awoniyi is making progress. Becker going in the right direction. Teuchert also in fitness.” he said.

Awoniyi is on loan at the club from Liverpool, he has scored six goals in all competitions for the Union Berlin.
