Despite languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table with just a win and a draw in nine Premier League matches, Nottingham Forest manager, Steve Cooper has been offered a new deal at the club.

Forest currently sit 20th on the PL table despite making 21 new signings this season including Nigeria's attacking duo of Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis.

The Welshman was tipped as the next Premier League manager in line for a sacking following the Reds' 4-0 hammering away to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Contrary to expectations, the former Swansea City manager's contract has been extended for the next three years.

In a statement the club said: “It is now important that our focus is solely on football.
“As a group we are all concentrated and will do everything we can to help the team move up the league table and once again demonstrate our qualities that led us to the Premier League.”

Forest hierarchy believe Cooper is the right man to maintain the club's Premier League status.

The 42-year-old helped Forest to return to the English topflight after 23 years absence.

He took over the reins of the club from Chris Hughton in September 2021, a time the club was stuck at bottom of the EFL Championship.
