Antonio Conte tipped to make return to football 7 months after Tottenham exit

Former Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte has been tipped to take over at Napoli, in the event the club decides to sack under-fire manager Rudi Garcia.

Tottenham Hotspur sacked Conte in March 2023 after he openly criticised the club following a disappointing 3-3 draw against Southampton.

The game saw Spurs throw away a comfortable lead to walk away with just a point, piling more frustration on an irate Conte.

After months without work, Conte, who won the Premier League title with Chelsea in 2017, is reportedly on the radar of Napoli, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com.

Sky Sport Italia further reports that the Gli Azzurri chiefs are pondering the future of current manager Rudi Garcia, who appears to have lost his dressing room.

The defending Serie A champions have made a torrid start to the 2023/24 campaign, and their latest 3-1 defeat to Fiorentina only summed up the state of the club at the moment.

Napoli currently sit fifth on the log with just four wins from their opening eight matches.

Garcia took charge of the club from Luciano Spaletti in the summer, but he has been unable to reciprocate his predecessor’s form from last season.

Because of this, the club is said to be evaluating his position.

Conte is a proven winner in his managerial career, and one reason Napoli find him an attractive prospect is the fact that he already has experience in the Serie A.

The Italian won several titles with Juventus in the three years spent at the club, and famously accrued 102 points in the 2013/14 season.
