Aiyegbeni is the Best African Player – Ex-Liverpool player

Liverpool legend, Patrik Berger believes the ex-Super Eagles striker remains the best African player he had the privilege to play alongside.

The former Czech Republic Midfielder played in Portsmouth for a two-year period from the 2003 to 2005 season.

Speaking about their time together in the Premier, Berger described the Aiyegbeni as a “great guy”. “Well, I played in Portsmouth for two years and I played with Yakubu, at the time, he was a young lad coming to our team,” the former Midfielder told BRL.

“Portsmouth just got promoted to the Premier League and Harry Redknapp brought a lot of experienced players like, Teddy Sheringham, Me, Steve Stone, and obviously we brought also young talents. Yakubu was one of them.

“Yakubu was humble the way he played. A great goal scorer, very strong, and great guy to be around.” “He was always smiling; he got a smile on his face every single day, you know 365 days, all the time. He was happy, never negative, he is a great guy.

“Sometimes I’m in touch with him on Instagram, I know he lives in the UK, so he was a great guy and great player.”
