This year’s final of Aiteo Cup competition will be between Bayelsa Queens and Robo Queens in the women’s category, while Nasarawa United will slug it out with Bayelsa United for the men’s version. The matches will hold today at the Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

In the build up to the finals, Bayelsa Queens FC defeated current League and FA Cup champions, Rivers Angels 5-0, to set up a match for the cup against FC Robo Queens of Lagos, who beat Edo Queens 5-3 on penalties after playing goalless at regulation time.

However, Nasarawa United stopped Sunshine Stars 6-5 on penalties after full time scores stood at 2-2, while second tier side, Bayelsa United qualified for its first Aiteo Cup final after a 1-0 triumph over top-flight Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Rivers United in the semi-final.

This year’s Aiteo Cup will come alive today again, following the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, which ravaged football activities and also affecting other human endeavours across the globe.

The women’s final, which begins at 4:00pm, will see the winner going home with N10 million and the runner-up N5 million, while N25 million will be won by winner in the men’s competition and N10 million for the runner-up.
