Nigerian goalkeeper, Adebayo Adeleye, has been nominated for the best goalkeeper award in Israel.

Adeleye is vying for the award alongside five other goalkeepers Omri Glazer of Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Daniel Peretz of Maccabi Tel Aviv, FC Ashdod’s Yoav Gerafi, John Cohen of Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Netanya’s Itamar Nitzan

The Hapoel Jerusalem shot stopper has kept 10 clean sheets, conceding 33 goals in the 29 games he featured for Hapoel Jerusalem this season.

Adeleye has made 120 appearances, conceding 114 goals with 51 clean sheets in all competitions for Hapoel Jerusalem since arriving in 2019.

The 23-year-old, who recently penned a new three-year contract extension with the Israeli side, says he feels very settled at the club and is pleased that the club wants him to be part of their long-term project.

“I feel very settled here and have really enjoyed my time on the pitch here,” he told The PUNCH.

“I’m very happy that an agreement was reached for me to sign this extension to my contract,” Adeleye said.

“I’m also glad that the club wants me to be part of the project long-term, and am very happy.

“We are working hard for success and I will do my best to bring more smiles to the faces of the fans who have made me feel so welcome since I arrived.”

Hapoel Jerusalem are currently bottom of the Championship playoffs log after recording three wins and six defeats. On Saturday, they battle reigning champions Maccabi Haifa, who have successfully defended their league title with a game to spare.
