The Super Eagles of Nigeria survived a scare in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers opener against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday, September 25.

Eric Chelle's side had to come from a goal down to beat the Indian Ocean islanders 2-1.

Ehsan Kari gave Barea the lead on the 16th minute before debutant George Ihenikane restore parity for the three-time African champions on the stroke of half time.

Another debutant Moses Usor came off the bench in the second half to apply the finishing touch to turn the game on its head in the 65th minute.

The LASK winger needed just four minutes after replacing Samuel Chukwueze to make his impact felt.

The Super Eagles will now take on Guinea-Bissau in the next fixture on Tuesday, September 29.
