Political commentator and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Reno Omokri has fingered Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) for commendation.

His comment comes after the national broadcaster announced it will be showing all 52 matches of the 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament.

In a post on his Facebook page, he wrote: The announcement that the Nigerian Television Authority will broadcast all AFCON matches live, even when SuperSport missed out on the TV rights and would therefore not be broadcasting the most anticipated African sports event of 2024, is remarkable.

It is a significant feat, and the NTA ought to be commended for pulling off this coup. Perhaps the tag 'Super' should leave SuperSport and follow the NTA.

Good things are happening in Nigeria. Let's celebrate them. Nigeria will survive and thrive when we place patriotism over politics.

NTA, arguably Africa's biggest television network disclosed via X on Wednesday, January 10 that it has secured exclusive rights to broadcast all 52 games that will be played in Ivory Coast.

“NTA signs Memorandum of Understanding with Afro Sports for transmission of 52 matches of Africa Cup Of Nations in Cote D’ivoire,” the post reads.

This comes against the backdrop of MultiChoice's decision not to broadcast the matches on its platform.
