AFCON 2023: Super Eagles coach Peseiro reacts to draw

Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro has expressed optimism following the 2023 AFCON draw on Thursday, October 12.

Nigeria have been pitted against hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau in Group A.

Ivory Coast is hoping to make an impact after missing out at the last edition in Cameroon.

Nigeria were finalists the last time Ivory Coast hotsed the Nations Cup 39 years ago.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with PUNCH, Peseiro expressed confidence in the Super Eagles chances of winning the tournament despite their tricky draw.

“We want to win the AFCON, so it’s not important to choose or want to avoid any opponent.

“The best moments are all those I was and I’m with my players, working to improve our organisation and our team spirit.”

The tournament will hold between January 13 and February 11 in 2024.
