AFCON 2023: 'I believe in this group to execute the job' — Osimhen talks tough

Napoli Starwalt Victor Osimhen is confident that Nigeria possesses enough quality to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles last claimed the continental title more than a decade ago.

During a dinner held to celebrate Osimhen's recognition as Africa's best player at the team's training base in Abu Dhabi on Friday night, the 25-year-old urged his teammates to give their all in the upcoming tournament.

Expressing his optimism, Osimhen stated, "The most important thing for us now is to go to Ivory Coast and win the tournament. I believe in this group; we have a bunch of talented players to execute the job. Fingers crossed, and we are going to do so well."

Having emerged as the top scorer in the qualifiers with an impressive tally of 10 goals, Osimhen is set to participate in his second AFCON tournament.

His debut was in 2019 in Egypt, where Nigeria finished in the third position.
