Mikel Arteta has reportedly drawn up a six-man transfer shortlist of players that he wants to sign for Arsenal this summer to help him strengthen his squad ahead of next season.

The Arsenal boss has enjoyed an incredible campaign with the Gunners this term, with the Spaniard initially looking on course to end the club's long wait for the Premier League title.

The north Londoners have topped the EPL standings for the better part of the season after a fine run of form results, putting them in a pole position to beat Manchester City to the crown.

While a slip in recent days has dealt them a massive blow in that bid, Arsenal still stand an outside chance of clinching the domestic title for the first time in almost two decades.

With the club set for a return to the Champions League next season, The Mirror reports that Arteta is laying the foundation of adding more depth to his squad to help him challenge for more titles.

According to the publication, the Gunners' boss has drawn up a six-man transfer target list of top players that he is keen to add to his ranks.

Mikel Arteta's transfer wishlist

Reports in the UK suggest that West Ham United skipper Declan Rice and Brighton's Moises Caicedo are top on Arteta's transfer wishlist.

Arsenal have widely been linked with a move for Rice, with Arteta said to be a huge admirer of the England international, whose deal with the Hammers will expire next summer.

According to Football London, Arsenal's interest in Rice comes at a time a number of top Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, are keeping close tabs on the 24-year-old.

On his part, Caicedo has been on the Gunners' watchlist for some time now, with the title challengers coming close to signing him in January.

However, the deal did not see the light of day as the Ecuadorian failed to seal a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Who else does Arteta want?

Meanwhile, Southampton youngster Romeo Lavia is being tracked by Arsenal after impressing at St Mary's this season despite the club's struggles.

Lavia only joined the Saints this season, having sealed a move to St Mary's from Manchester City last summer.

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is also on Arteta's watchlist, with the former Man United winger also understood to be eyeing an exit.

His counterpart Marc Guehi and Frenchman Moussa Diaby are also being monitored.
