Bruno Onyemaechi is likely to miss Nigeria's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
The Boavista defender sustained the injury in his club's 3-1 defeat to Farense on Sunday.
He was replaced by Filipe Ferreira in the 56th minute of the game.
The 24-year-old left-back has been a regular for the Super Eagles under Jose Peseiro.
He joins a long list of players who are set to miss the game. Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze and Wilfred Ndidi were not included in the squad for the games due to injuries.
Cardiff City’s Jamilu Collins is the other left-back in the team.
The Super Eagles will welcome Lesotho to Uyo on Thursday before flying out to Rwanda to battle Zimbabwe three days later as the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament begins.
