Super Falcons of Nigeria were on Saturday morning, July 15, impressive as they beat Australian champions Queensland Lions 8-1 in a friendly game ahead of the 2023 Women's World Cup.

The encounter was the first friendly for Randy Waldrum and his wards ahead of the World Cup as football fans in Nigeria are expecting the Super Falcons to do well at the competition.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup which will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand will start next week Thursday.

The Super Falcons will face Olympic champions Canada, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland in Group B in what is expected to be a tough fight for the Nigerian ladies.

Who scored for the Falcons?

According to the information the Falcons gave on their Twitter page, Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala scored two goals for the Nigerian side.

Oshoala is one of the players the world is looking ahead to watching in the competition considering her brilliant performances for her club last season.

Ifeoma Onumonu, Toni Payne, Rasheedat Ajibade, Halimatu Ayinde, Uchenna Kanu, and Gift Monday are the other scorers for the Super Falcons.

Super Falcons who are nine-time African champions will take on Canada in their opening game in Melbourne on July 21.
