Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okojo-Iwela, has encouraged the Super Falcons to strive for victory against Australia in their next game in the ongoing Women’s World Cup.

On Friday, the Super Falcons held Canada to a goalless draw in their first game at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

They will take on Australia in their next game at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Thursday, before playing Ireland four days later.

Randy Waldrum’s side remains joint second with Canada with one point after both countries settled for a draw in their contest, while Australia, on the hand, is occupying the first spot following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland.

This has prompted the current Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Okojo-Iwela, to take to Twitter to heap praises on the team for their impressive draw against Canada and urges them to aim for maximum points against Australia on Thursday.

Hello Super Falcons! Congratulations on an incredible effort in your draw with Canada. Wishing you the best in the upcoming Australia match-up!!! She wrote on her Twitter handle.

Nigeria’s match against Australia is slated for 11 am Nigerian time on Thursday. The top two teams will advance to the knockout stages of the competition.
