Nigerians slam FBI for headlining six Nigerian criminals on wanted list of 79

Nigerians have challenged the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, for headling Nigerian Criminals (internet fraudsters) on its wanted list that contains 79 persons.

The FBI on Twitter said, "Help the #FBI find six Nigerian nationals wanted for their involvement in business email compromise (BEC) schemes resulting in over $6 million in losses."

This, however, did not sit well with Nigerians, who felt that the FBI was being racist for using Nigerian criminals rather than just criminals.

According to the FBI's list of 79 criminals wanted for "their involvement in business email compromise (BEC) schemes resulting in over $6 million in losses," there are six Nigerian nationals on the list while the remaining 73 are from Russia, China and other countries.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that there are 39 men of Arab origin, 16 Russians, 20 Chinese/Southeast Asians and six Nigerians. The full list was released by the FBI via https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/cyber.

The tweet also drew criticism from popular social media star, J.J Omojuwa, who said, "I counted 79 wanted criminals, almost 20 are Russian, about the same number are of Chinese origin (including syndicates), a sizeable number are Arabian etc. The minority black/Nigerian 6 of 79 instead made the headline. Is there a Nigerian agenda going on with the US government?"
