The Bishop of Kaduna Anglican Diocese, Most Reverend Timothy Yahaya has called on the federal and state governments to create stimulus packages to help poor households and small scale businesses hardest hit by the adverse impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In his message during the synod of the Diocese held in the Kaduna state capital on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, the Bishop noted that many vulnerable households are going through severe hardship due to the pandemic.

According to him, the economic stimulus package for such category of people will go a long way to assuage their sufferings.

Speaking further, the cleric lamented over the low budgetary allocation for the health sector in the 2020 budget and called for an urgent upgrading and rehabilitation of health care institutions across the country.

He also said there should be more laboratories to enhance the fight against COVID-19.

Beyond that, he urged the government to improve the welfare of health care workers who are risking their lives to contain the pandemic, as well as providing them with adequate Personal Protective Equipment.
