No coronavirus case has been recorded in Akwa Ibom, Udom boasts

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel has said no coronavirus case has been recorded in the state.

The Governor made this disclosure in a live broadcast to people of his state as he dispelled rumours implying that Akwa Ibom has been infected.

Emmanuel said his administration is prepared and ready to combat the deadly virus if it rears its ugly head in the state.

Giving details about the giant strides of his administration, he noted that their airports are safe and the government has made it a habit to run jingles on radio and television to educate people about the virus.

The Governor also added that a task force has been set up in the state even before the first case of coronavirus was detected in Nigeria and the borders are effectively being monitored for any contact with the virus.

"Rumours of coronavirus in our state is utterly false. For emphasis, there is no confirmed coronavirus case in our state. Even our airports are safe. Our task force had been set up before the first case of coronavirus was detected in Nigeria. We have run sensitization campaigns and radio jingles to educate the people. Personal protective equipment have been distributed to health facilities in the state. We are monitoring our borders and have an isolation centre in place," Emmanuel assured the people in his broadcast.
