The Zamfara State Government has vowed to demolish communities housing bandits terrorizing the state.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Malam Mani Mummuni, made this known when he visited Tsafe Emirate to console the community after the killing of nine members of the Zamfara State local security outfit, Community Protection Guards, CPG, by bandits.

Reports indicate that bandits ambushed the security operatives along the Tsafe-Funtua road, killing nine of the soldiers.

Mummuni accused residents of the Maikwanugga community of housing bandits and providing them with shelter and foodstuffs.

He mentioned that the village allowed bandits to spend the night before attacking the CPG operatives who were deployed to protect travellers.

"The village is just less than half a kilometre from the main road, but they decided to be used by bandits against our security operatives, who are working to secure the lives and properties of innocent people,” he said.

Mummuni warned that the government would deal with traitors working against the state’s efforts and the security agencies fighting insecurity.
