Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry has been found, BBC Pidgin said. This comes after protesters gathered in front of the Catholic Bishop’s court in Enugu demanding his whereabouts from Bishop Callistus Onaga.

Father Mbaka who was scheduled for service Wednesday, May 5 failed to show up, stirring tension among his followers. Several attempts to reach him via his cellphone proved futile.

The outspoken cleric was declared missing by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, OYC in a statement. It said through President-General of OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike that Mbaka was last seen on Tuesday, May 4.

“We have it on good authority that his aides have neither seen nor heard from him since Tuesday.

“Calls put to his mobile line have also remained unanswered; this has now prompted us to issue this alarm as we would not take it lightly should anything untoward happens to him.

Meanwhile, the Department for State Security (DSS) distanced itself from the incident stating through its spokesman Peter Afunaya that the service was not in possession of Fr. Mbaka.

“Rev Fr Mbaka is not with the DSS. The DSS did not pick him up, please.” Recall that the Federal government had alleged that some religious and political leaders were planning to overthrow the Mohammadu Buhari-led government."

Father Mbaka has been an open critic of the Buhari-led administration. He has constantly accused the President handling of the economy and the security challenges plaguing the country.

He later called for the impeachment of the same President he openly supported into office in 2015.

Vanguard reports Fr. Mbaka will hold a press conference shortly.
