The University of Lagos, Akoka, said it has partnered with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and the Gbagada General Hospital for necessary isolation and treatment of any coronavirus case as it resumes physically on August 26, 2021.

Recall that following the incidence of COVID-19 infection in UNILAG, the Senate at its meeting on July 12, 2021, directed the closure of all halls of residence.

However, a statement by the Registrar, Mr Oladejo Azeez, said it would commence the second-semester examination physically from August 26, 2021, saying it would be done in phases and all students would depart by September 26, 2021.

It added, “In order to ensure the safety of staff and students during this period, the university will adhere strictly to all COVID-19 protocols. Special arrangements have been made with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and Gbagada General Hospital for necessary isolation and treatment of any incidence of COVID-19 case during the examination.

“The university management has approved the schedule of accommodation of bonafide students with allocated bed spaces in the hostels for the second-semester examinations.”

It also said 100 and 200 level students with allocated bed spaces would move into the hostels from August 26, 2021, and depart on or before September 11, 2021.

The statement also requested students to present a bottle of hand sanitiser each, at least 10 face masks, which they must put on at all times.
