Tankers’ fire razes fuel station, telecommunication mast in Ondo

A petrol station and a telecommunication mast substation has been razed down by fire in Ondo state.

It was learnt that the fire started when tankers were dispensing fuel at two stations.

The first incident was along Dammy bus stop in Ijoka area of Akure, the Ondo state.

According to reports, the fire fighters arrived at the scene and doused the fire, preventing it from spreading to other buildings.

Also, fire occurred at Oluwatoyin street, Akinjagunla area of Ondo west local government area in Ondo state.

It was gathered that the tanker driver allegedly dropped his lighted cigarette on the floor while offloading the diesel at the MTN mast service provider signal.

Reports indicate that the inferno which happened on Tuesday, April 11, around 1:30pm, affected some houses

An eyewitness identified as Mr. Emmanuel Olorunmodupe said, “The fire broke out because of the cigarette butt the driver dropped on the floor when he wanted to offload diesel at the service provider signal.

“There were no fire fighters on ground to put out the inferno.”

It was also reported by another source that the driver was affected and rushed to the hospital.
