Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has been left in shock over the demise of the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Victor Bala Kona.

In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday in Jalingo, the State capital by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello, he noted that the “sad news of the passage of the former Chairman of our great party, Chief Victor Bala Kona, is such a painful one.”

He added that “We didn’t only lose a political icon but a father and a consummate family man.”

The governor noted that his death comes at a time when his wealth of experience would be most needed.

The party on the other hand said it is deeply saddened by news of the death of its former chairman.

The late Kona, who according to the party was chairman of the Party from March 2012 to August 2020, worked “tirelessly for the growth and sustained leadership streak of the party in the State.”

The PDP said “his loss at this time of our political journey is sad and colossal as the government and the party that he had assiduously worked for would have continued to benefit from his fountain of wisdom and knowledge.”

The statement, which was signed by the party’s publicity secretary, Andeta’rang Irammae, admitted that his absence would be felt at both the State and the national levels.
