Scarcity of commercial motorcycles, vehicles hit Zamfara over fuel scarcity

Zamfara State Zamfara State

Residents of Zamfara State have decried the scarcity of commercial motorcycles in the state, saying the federal government has declared total war against the common masses despite bringing them to power.

The residents who claimed that both the federal and state governments have neglected them expressed worry that banditry, economic hardship and other related social problems have continued unabated.

They said the closure of main markets in the state was a very big blow to traders, pointing out that even with the blockage of the telecommunication networks, the traders were at the receiving end.

All viable businesses in the state have since been shut down due to the state government security measures that have not produced any beneficial result, they lamented.

Findings by revealed that a reduction in the number of commercial vehicles and motorcycles operating in the state.

The few available options have also increased their prices, putting the blame on scarcity and the high cost of fuel.

A public commentator, Ahmed Bakare while refused to accept that fuel is scarce in the state, saying it was artificial and alleging that the government is involved in the situation.

He said most of the filling stations in the country are owned by the people in the corridors of power, adding that the federal government has woefully failed in its fight against monumental corruption in the country.

"The Zamfara State situation has gone out of control as most motorcycle riders and owners have stopped their commercial businesses due to the hike in fuel prices.

“The government cannot claim of any ignorance of the scarcity of fuel rocking almost all the states of the federation because they have regulatory bodies that can stop the hoarding of fuel for just selfish interest” he lamented.

“I have always been saying it that no individual in the whole world is above the power of the government unless the government in power does not want to act."

Bakare alleged that corruption has become legalized and that the same government that claimed to be championing anti-corruption is the same brain behind the corruption in the country.

“Nigeria can only be free if all the common masses would join cooperate and stone all these corrupt leaders who have placed the country in the position it found its self irrespective of tribe ethnicity and religion”

“Both the Hausa, Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba and other tribes have the same tribe, same religion and the same ethnicity when it comes to cheating the common masses but when one of them is short paid, the person would gather his people and instigate them through religion, tribe and ethnicity for selfish interest.

He said he can challenge any of the government officials to pinpoint the public schools their children attend, stressing that some don’t even have their children schooling in Nigeria but overseas.

“That is the very main reason why the governments neglect public schools because their children are not schooling there. I challenge them to send their children to public schools and see if the public schools would not be the best because their children are there”

“If the founders of Nigeria could germinate from their graves and witness what is happening in the country they founded and left behind, they would be filled with surprises."
