Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has donated N100 million to traders in Akere Motor Parts and Allied Dealers Association (AMPADA) in Ajegunle following the fire explosion that raised than over 200 shops.

Sanwo-Olu also broke grounds for the construction of a two-story building market.

According to Sanwo-Olu, during his visit to the burnt site, the efforts were to help alleviate the plight of the traders who lost goods and cash in the fire.

This comes a week after his contender, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party donated N15 million to the affected traders.

Recall that goods worth millions of naira were burnt down by unidentified arsonists, who invaded the market.

The incident also claimed the life of one Baba Hakeem, the security guard for the taxi park beside the market.

Report indicate that this occurred on March 8 after the announcement of the presidential election result.

It was gathered that the arsonist had tried to set fire on the market but were chased out by two security guards, who were shot in the leg by the masked men.

The Akere Motor Parts and Allied Dealers Association (AMPADA) is a market mostly dominated by the Igbos.
