One dead, one injured during Osun festival

An unidentified man has been confirmed dead by the police, while another one was injured in an accident that occurred at the celebration of Osun festival in Ido Osun town, Osun State.

The Punch learnt that the death occurred when some youths stormed Ido Osun from Osogbo on motorcycles and had an accident around 8pm on Saturday, 15, 2020.

It was further learnt that apart from the man that died, the other injured person was rushed to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, where he had been receiving treatment.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun Command, Yemisi Opalola, on Sunday said the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

Opalola said, “Some youths armed with weapons, and riding recklessly on motorcycles arrived at Ido Osun from Osogbo to celebrate Ido Osun festival.”
