Nigeria working hard to produce its own vaccine - Dr Onu

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu has stated that Nigeria is working towards making a vaccine locally.

He added that this will enable the country's professionals and scientists to get involved in the production process.

Dr Onu made the statement when Her Excellency Clara Paulido-Escandell, the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Monday, July 11, 2021, in Abuja.

The Minister further added that the importance of the production of the vaccine locally will help the country create jobs, as well as reduce poverty levels.

“We want all Nigeria Professionals to be at the centre of economic activities in the country and we believe strongly is the only way that enterprises, cooperation, growths will become very strong,” Dr Onu stated.

The Cuban ambassador to Nigeria concluded that the Ministry gave her the opportunity of working with some agencies such as the National Biotechnology and Development Agency (NABDA) and Shetsco development Institute to further achieve the local vaccine production.
