The corpse of a day-old baby boy with a placenta has been discovered abandoned on a pile of trash in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.

An eyewitness who was at the scene said the lifeless infant was dumbed in the early hours of Saturday, November 5, 2022, along the Atimbo road, just a few meters from the Atimbo Navy Barrack.

The lifeless corpse is reported to have been buried by four men near a gutter in a little grave, according to a Facebook page known as Cross River Watch.

Cross-river watch revealed that the men claimed their bosses from the Ministry of Environment had given them the go-ahead to bury the infant, adding that they have been doing so on several occasions.
