Man stabs wife to death in Benue State

A man identified as Ben Matthew of Korinya-City, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, has been arrested by the police for stabbing his wife to death.

It was learnt that the man perpetrated the act around 7:03 a.m. on Tuesday.

Neighbours stormed the scene of the incident and apprehended the suspect while the deceased’s body was taken to the mortuary.

The suspect was eventually arrested by men at the Konshisha Divisional Police Station.

Responding to questions at the police station, the suspect confessed that he stabbed his wife to death because she was no longer “submissive to him”.

An eyewitness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the deceased was stabbed in the rib, back and thigh.

It was gathered that the union between the man and his wife was blessed with four children.

The remains of the deceased were deposited at the mortuary of Saint Joseph’s Clinic and Maternity, Korinya City.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Benue State Police Command were not successful as the spokesperson, SP Catherine Anekwe, could not be reached for comments.
