The Borno State Government has confirmed that Governor Babagana Zulum has received a new Army commander in the state on Thursday.

This comes days after Zulum raised alarm over the state of security in Borno State to the President major Genneral Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

Confirming the news on its Facebook page, the state government said, “Zulum received the new Garrison Commander 7 Division, Nigerian Army. He was accompanied by the outgoing Garrison Commander, Brigadier General Sunday Igbinomwanhia”, it read.

“The Governor has presented a souvenir to the outgoing Garrison Commander, Brigadier General Sunday Igbinomwanhia in appreciation of his service to Borno State.”

Recall that Zulum had earlier blamed the country's failure to defeat the Boko Haram insurgents on “sabotage in the system.”

However, speaking on Sunday with his counterparts from Kebbi and Jigawa, Atiku Bagudu and Badaru Abubakar, who paid him a visit after the Baga ambush, Zulum commended Buhari's efforts in the fight against insurgency.

“I earlier said that the gravity of the insurgency cannot be compared with what has happened between 2011 to 2015, and 2015 to date.”
