The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, on Monday inaugurated the Okigwe-Owerri Road and Owerri-Orlu Road.

The governor said that the projects would cost his administration N55bn, adding that the roads were important to the economy of the State.

Uzodinma disclosed that the projects would be handled by Craneburg Construction Company and was expected to be completed in 18 months.

The governor said “These Roads will be delivered in good time. They will work day and night to give us exactly what we want.

“These roads are important to our people because they have been left in the hands of amateur contractors. Since our late governor, Sam Mbakwe, built the Roads over 30 years ago, administrations after him had constantly engaged small contractors, but today we are giving you a better one.”

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Paul Emeziem, said that the governor had been able to save not just travellers to the state, but those going to Abia and other neighbouring states.
