The Imo State Government has announced that schools in the state will resume Monday, 5 October.

This is coming seven months after the government announced the closure of schools in the state following the outbreak of coronavirus in the country, The Punch said.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, told The Punch on Thursday in Owerri that schools in the state would reopen for academic activities on the scheduled date.

He said the decision to reopen schools was reached at the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

Emelumba said,” Schools in the state will reopen next Monday. The state deputy governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, is chairing the committee that will come up with the template for the resumption of schools.”
