Imo Assembly LP candidate murdered by suspected assassins

Labour Party candidate for Onuimo Local Government Area in the Imo State House of Assembly, Christopher Elehu, has been reported dead.

According to reports, Christopher was on Friday, December 16, killed by suspected assassins.

It was gathered that his home was set ablaze by the assailants and his properties including his motorcycle were also destroyed.

The suspects were said to have attacked him in the early hours of Friday morning which went on for over two hours.

Sources told Punch that the assassins also visited the houses of other politicians in the area but didn't find them at home.

“They have killed Christopher Elehu, popularly known as Wasco. Until his death he was the Labour Party candidate in Onuimo Local Government Area. They invaded his house when everybody had gone to sleep and shot for over two hours.

“They killed the man and burnt his house. They also destroyed his property. His corpse was laying on the floor with matchet cuts when villagers gathered in the morning,” an eyewitness said.
