Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has said sustainable transformation of the state’s economy and provision of good life for the residents are the major reasons he and members of his administration are in government.

Oyetola spoke yesterday when he was named The Blueprint newspaper’s Governor of the Year 2020.

The award was presented to him by the Estu Nupe, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, who also doubled as the Royal Father of Day, at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

This is coming about seven days after the governor won The Champion newspaper’s Man of the Year and Governor of the Year 2020 awards.

He had also been crowned Governor of the Year by BusinessDay newspaper in February.

Addressing reporters after getting the award, Oyetola, who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Benedict Alabi, noted that he got the award “in recognition of the firm and productive partnership between our administration and the good people of Osun”.

He dedicated the award to his people, saying: “The honour will further motivate us to serve our people better and build a truly prosperous state.”

Also, Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade, who was named Governor of the Year 2021 by the newspaper, clinched the award in recgonition of his administration’s giant strides in agro-industrialization.

The Blueprint 10th anniversary/Impact Series and Award is among series of awards the governor has won, having previously won TELL magazine’s, Vanguard, Leadership, BusinessDay, Authority and Champion newspapers’ awards.

Ayade, the newspaper said, emerged after a highly competitive evaluation process conducted by its board of editors.

The organisers said the governor was singled out for the award due to “his relentless and remarkable efforts to create a sustainable economy through aggressive industrialisation with a view to decoupling the state from over-reliance on the Federal allocation, where it earns the second least allocation in the federation”.
