Comrade Philip Shaibu, the reinstated deputy governor of Edo State, says he made several attempts to reach his former principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki, despite their fractured relationship.

Shaibu, who was reinstated as the Governor of Edo State by a Federal High Court in Abuja, months after he was impeached by the state assembly, also disclosed that he hasn't been paid his salaries and allowances for over a year.

He made this known in an interview on Arise TV on Friday, July 19.

"I know when I resume, the governor won't pay. The governor hasn't paid for one year but that won't kill my spirit," he said.

"I called Obaseki 111 yesterday times since the crisis. And I also sent him a text. When I have information, I send him a text. The last time I sent him a text was on his birthday."

According to Justice Omotoso, the impeachment of by the Edo State House of Assembly was illegal, unconstitutional, null, and void.

The court held that the said impeachment was in gross violation of the provisions of both sections 188 and 35 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

The judge held that the impeachment was in gross violation of the Constitution.

Aside from restoring Shaibu, the court also ordered that his salaries and allowances should be paid to him from April when he was impeached as the deputy governor of the state.

When asked if he is still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, he said: "I am still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party but my spirit has left the PDP, it's only my spirit and body that are still with PDP."
