Hoodlums bomb police station, LG headquarters in Anambra

Hoodlums have set ablaze a police station and the headquarters of the Anaocha local government area in Anambra state.

This has led to tension in the Neni community. According to reports, the gunmen which are said to be about 30, stormed the area between 3am and 4am on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

The state police public relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the hoodlums attacked the police station with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), however, no arms or police personnel was catered away.

According to the police spokesman, operatives are still carrying on operations in the area.

He noted that the police operatives subdued the hoodlums with heavy fire power, forcing them to flee.

It was gathered that the attackers were shouting “DPO must go; he has overstayed; he has been in Anaocha for over 15 years.”
