The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Mogaji Olaniyan, has raised alarm over the “hatred” for police officers in the country.

Addressing the issue, Olaniyan said that the hatred for security personnel is a major factor affecting the country’s security.

He made this known when speaking to the media at the 40th celebration ceremony of the Committee held in Abeokuta, Ogun state.

According to him, the PCRC is ensuring an improved relationship between residents and the police.

He stated that there is a need to address the issue in order to create a healthy relationship between the people and the police which will lead to a better security.

Olaniyan said “We are calling that people should love the Nigeria Police, this is what they lack. right from childhood we have created enmity between our children and the Nigeria Police.

“This hatred starts from our home. For instance, if parents want to scold their children they will say ‘I will call the police for you. This is why our children grow up with hatred for the police and that is why we are trying to stop this narrative.”

The State Chairman of the Committee, Samson Kunle Popoola on his part said the security of Ogun state is a major concern to the PCRC.

He was of the view that Ogun state remains one of the most peaceful states in the country as he urged the people and the police to foster a relationship to keep the state safe.
