Girl sets lover ablaze in Benue

A 20-year-old has been set ablaze by his lover after he refused to marry her.

Witness said the victim, identified as Jude had a heated argument with his lover and sent her packing.

Prior to the incident, Jude alleged his lover hated his mother.

Things took a twist about 1.30 am when the girl returned to the compound with three men. They tore the window nets, poured petrol into the house, and lighted a fire, according to The Nations.

Jude and his mother were sleeping in the house. They raised an alarm and neighbors rescued them. Jude however sustained serious injuries, reports The Nations.

Jude is receiving treatment at a hospital in Gboko while his girlfriend is on the run.

The police said the investigation has begun.
