Residents of Ajibode-Oke Ona community in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State have appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to come to their aid.

The residents said the call was urgent to prevent the impending flood disaster that may lead to the loss of lives and property in the community.

They appealed for urgent intervention following the threat of flood to submerge the area.

Some communities in the state have been experiencing floods following heavy rains that have remained unabated since Friday.

Ajibode Oke-Ona, a community which lays at the back of the University of Ibadan, is the latest threatened by the flood.

A community leader in the area, Dr. Bayo Busari, who spoke with DAILY POST on Monday, maintained that there is an urgent need for solutions to prevent flood and protect the lives and properties of residents in the area.

He added, “Several houses have already been submerged by water, and unless urgent intervention comes to the area, some other buildings may also be affected”.

Another resident who spoke on Monday maintained that some buildings construction in the community has collapsed.

“A building under construction has collapsed today. The building is located at Olorunshogo close Ajibode, very close to the University of Ibadan.

“Fortunately, there is no casualty. But, it has affected other buildings. I know that you are a professional, just write an eyewitness. You don’t have to mention my name.

“Breaking Bros, the second building has just collapsed."
