For the second time this year, a fire has gutted Otukpo Main Market.

The fire, which started at about 8 am on Wednesday at Lagos line, spread to another section and destroyed goods worth millions of Naira.

But for the arrival of Otukpo Fire Service officials, who put out the fire, the market would have been razed to the ground.

On March 16, the market was gutted by a midnight fire, which destroyed goods worth millions of Naira.

Governor Samuel Ortom donated N50million to the traders to help cushion the effect of the inferno.

The Chairman of Otukpo Local Government, Mr George Alli, who confirmed the incident, said he had taken steps to address incessant fire outbreaks. He enjoined the traders to be calm.
