Nigerian lawyer, Femi Fani-Kayode, has commented on the decision of Governor Nyesom Wike to demolish hotels in Rivers for holding a party against the lockdown order in place in the state.

MyNIgeria.com reports that the governor ordered the demolition of some hotels, which reportedly violated the lockdown measures in the state.

Images surfaced on Twitter showing the establishments in ruin as bulldozers moved to action on the orders of Governor Wike.

The decision has met with several backlashes across the country, especially on social media, with many claiming the decision was too harsh.

Commenting on his official Twitter account, FFK said that "power must be exercised with restraint and caution."

"Transcorps Hilton, Abuja is the biggest hotel in Nigeria. If someone held a party there against a Covid-19 executive order of @MBuhari and the next day the hotel was demolished we would condemn it. No matter who wields it, power must be exercised with restraint and caution."
